Tuition at Arcadia School aims to provide learners with a balanced spectrum of activities in order to remediate specific learning barriers.
Furthermore, Arcadia strives to instill those moral and cultural values inherent to a modern and democratic society, whilst developing each learner’s potential for becoming independent, productive and worthy citizens.
At Arcadia we recognize the values of human dignity, equality, freedom and non-discrimination. We endeavour to instill mutual respect within the school’s community and abhor any treatment in a cruel, inhuman or degrading manner. Non-violent means, i.e. mediation and co-operation, are employed to maintain order and discipline – corporal punishment is not permissible.
All learners have the right to education and Arcadia School is committed to providing its learners with the best quality education that is available to facilitate growth, development and knowledge. We believe in the holistic approach to education which will provide learners with knowledge, experience and understanding not just during school years, but also into adulthood. Arcadia School will provide an environment that is conducive to the full development of each child’s character and personality.
The responsibility for maintaining discipline at school lies with all educators, as well as the learners themselves. Parents have an equal part to play to ensure that school rules are upheld. The aim is to maintain good standards of behaviour and discipline with a minimal punishment.
SCHOOL FEES
It's crunch-time for consumers and nobody is feeling the heat more than South Africa's fee-paying schools. Mounting bad debt, coupled with a spike in applications for fee exemptions countrywide, will cost public schools about R2.8-billion this year. This dire prediction comes from the Federation of Governing Bodies of South African Schools, which represents 1 935 schools. Schools are already cutting back on the hiring of sports coaches and maintenance, among other things, to keep their books in the black. An interesting article that appeared in the Sunday Times: 24/01/2016.
